What is Infrared Therapy?

Our Infrared therapy uses a combination of Red & Near-infrared light to penetrate the skin and deep into the tissue, which can promote healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation. It's great for muscle relaxation, pain relief, and detoxification. Many people use it for chronic pain or to help recover from workouts; it’s like giving your body a soothing, warm embrace from the inside out. As the light penetrates your skin and tissue, it stimulates mitochondria- your body’s natural energy to restore balance, vitality and healing from the inside out.

Red light therapy and infrared therapy are similar in that they both use light to promote healing and improve health, but they differ mainly in the wavelength of light they use:

  • Red light therapy (RED) uses visible red light with wavelengths typically between 600 and 650 nanometers. This light is absorbed by the skin and is often used for things like reducing inflammation, promoting wound healing, and improving skin health.

  • Infrared therapy (Near-Infrared aka NIR) uses infrared light, which has longer wavelengths than red light, usually ranging from 800-2,000 nanometers. Infrared light penetrates deeper into the body, reaching tissues and muscles beneath the skin, and is commonly used for pain relief, muscle recovery, and improving circulation.

In short:

  • Red light therapy: Primarily for skin and surface-level healing.

  • Infrared therapy: Deeper tissue penetration, often used for pain relief and muscle recovery.

What to expect during an Infrared Therapy Session?

During the Session: You’ll lay under a special infrared light or lay on an infrared mat that will gradually increase with heat and penetrate deep into the tissue.

Sensations: The warmth feels soothing and can penetrate deeply into your muscles. You may feel a sense of relaxation and warmth without the heavy heat of traditional saunas.

After the Session: Post-session, many people feel rejuvenated and relaxed. You might experience improved muscle recovery and a general sense of well-being.

Frequency Recommendations- Start with 3-5 sessions per week and adjust as needed.
